Primary Activities
A Legal Counsel in the Legal function is typically expected to perform the following activities as a part of their job. - Providing Training & Education: Delivering legal training sessions and educational programs to enhance legal awareness and knowledge among employees, promoting compliance and risk mitigation
- Conducting Legal Research: Performing in-depth legal research on various topics, including case law, statutes, regulations, and legal precedents, to support legal opinions and decision-making
- Collaborating With External Counsel: Engaging and managing relationships with external law firms and legal service providers, coordinating legal matters, and seeking specialized expertise when required
- Monitoring Legislative Changes: Tracking and analyzing legislative and regulatory developments that may impact the organization's operations, and advising on necessary adjustments to ensure compliance
- Maintaining Legal Documentation: Organizing and maintaining legal records, contracts, and other legal documents, ensuring proper documentation and easy retrieval when needed
