Primary Activities
A Paralegal in the Legal function is typically expected to perform the following activities as a part of their job. - Assisting In Trial Preparation: Supporting attorneys in preparing for trials by organizing evidence, coordinating witnesses, drafting trial exhibits, and assisting in the development of trial strategies
- Legal Administrative Support: Providing administrative assistance to attorneys, including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, preparing expense reports, and maintaining attorney time records
- Conducting Interviews & Investigations: Assisting in conducting interviews with clients, witnesses, and experts, as well as gathering and analyzing relevant information through investigations to support legal cases
- Assisting In Legal Proceedings: Supporting attorneys during legal proceedings, such as hearings, depositions, and trials, by organizing exhibits, taking notes, and ensuring all necessary documents are readily available
- Legal Document Review: Reviewing and analyzing legal documents, contracts, and agreements to identify potential issues, inconsistencies, or risks, and providing summaries or recommendations to attorneys
- Maintaining Legal Databases: Updating and maintaining legal databases and case management systems, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information for easy retrieval and reference
